WCRA endeavors to meet Washington’s affordable housing and economic development needs through partnership. We view diversity and inclusion as inextricably connected to our mission and critical to ensuring the well-being of our staff and the communities we serve. WCRA is committed to maintaining an inclusive environment with equitable treatment for all. We advocate for public and private-sector policies that promote diversity, inclusion, and equality. We recognize that systematic racism in America has affected many industries, including the housing sector, and WCRA is determined to work to end this injustice by:
- Creating and supporting programs and policies that reflect the diversity of American society
- Pooling resources and expanding offerings for underrepresented residents by connecting with other organizations committed to diversity and inclusion efforts
- Supporting board-level thinking about how systemic inequities impact our organization’s work, and how best to address that in a way that is consistent with our mission
- Exploring potential underlying, unquestioned assumptions that interfere with inclusiveness
Through these examples above, WCRA condemns racism and commits to promoting positive change and building communities of equality throughout Washington State.
